Now, more than ever, it is simple to live a dairy free lifestyle. With the prevalence of organic/allergen free sections in grocery stores and restaurants listing allergen information, it is much easier to be dairy free now, then, say, ten years ago.
Like any lifestyle change, going dairy free requires a commitment. Whatever your reason (lactose intolerance, dairy allergy, behavioral diet, etc.), the key is to be diligent about reading ingredient labels. It will take time, but soon enough ingredients such as milk, casein, and whey will stick out like a sore thumb.
The second component to living dairy free is swapping dairy ingredients for non-dairy alternatives. It may be confusing at first, but you will become the dairy free McGyver of the kitchen!
